"Gratitude" My 2019 Word of the Year

Good Morning Friends! I discovered my 2019 Word of the Year over on DaySpring cards and my word is "Gratitude!" I already feel so grateful for the abundant blessings and love God bestows upon me. And I'm eternally grateful for my family, work and my freedom. But I hope/plan to open 2019 with a heart full of Gratitude all year long. I've noticed when I'm grateful for what I have, things that I want seem to fall into my hands- lol. So in closing, I will link the DaySpring Word of the Year Quiz here so that you can discover your Word of the Year. And please let me know what's your word. I love hearing from you all. Also here's a good verse of the day reflecting gratefulness.

Psalm 100:4 King James Version (KJV)

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Have a Blessed 2019 and thank you so much for following along on my little blog.

Best Interior Design Styles for You

For those who have no urge to overindulge, look to Scandinavian or minimalist design. While they are still different, they have similar traits that work for those that like to keep their space pared down and simple, or don’t see themselves living in their Finding the Best Interior Design for You

If you don’t have a natural knack for design, diving in and starting the design process from scratch can be intimidating. Inspiration doesn’t always come knocking, and pairing different themes, textures, and shapes can be challenging.

We’ve created a short guide to help you discover the right feel, type of decor, and design style for your space based on what you have and what you need. As design is always evolving, many professional interior designers find themselves finding new ways to merge design styles, so don’t feel as though you are limited to one style.

The first order of business is to consider the budget you’re working with for your design project, and what the scope will entail. A single room refresh requires a vastly different budget from that of a complete home re-furnishing, so consider how big your project is, and determine an appropriate budget from there. A smaller project means you may be able to splurge on some more luxury items, while a larger project means you may have to make some sacrifices in order to keep your design within budget.

If your budget is on the smaller side, you might consider sourcing your furniture from stores that have thousands of options instead of a more concise, boutique brand. Stores and e-commerce shops like Ikea, Wayfair, and Houzz all feature thousands of options in every type of piece, so you’ll never be short on selection, and many of the available options are preferable for a more cost-effective budget.

Mid-range stores like West Elm or Room & Board will provide a more high-end appearance that is more stylistic but will cost you a bit more, and don’t have nearly as many options available, meaning it could be hit or miss. If you have more wiggle room with your budget, try Crate and Barrel or Ethan Allen for investment pieces that you plan on keeping in your home for years to come.

Budget and timeframe tie into each other, because if you’re decorating your space to last, instead of what might be a temporary apartment or starter home, you’ll want to make sure your chosen furniture is high quality and long-lasting. An individual who finds themselves moving into a new apartment but are not planning on spending more than a few years there before moving on may find their best option is lower end, easily assembled and movable furniture like the options at Ikea.

For a home, you plan to settle down in, look to pieces with durable fabrics, longstanding high-quality woods, and style that is easily incorporated into other design schemes. Because of the complexity of this, you’ll want to look for something that is a bit more simplistic, with clean lines and no busy ornamentation.

Of course, taste and personal style are important too. This is the factor that is perhaps the most dependent upon each individual, but most can find a style they identify with among the most commonly accepted styles of design. For those that like a clean, polished look without extraneous features, look to mid-century modern, which relies heavily on functionality and simplicity.

The great thing about mid-century pieces is that they are easy to merge into another design scheme because they have a pure, uncompromised look about them. A full mid-century room offers a fully formed look, but the inclusion of subtle pieces into another design acts as something more supplementary.
If your space is privy to exposed hardware, dark metals and woods, or visible brick, industrial may be the best way to capitalize off of this. Industrial interior design has more of an edgy, darker feel due to the more durable and heavyweight materials involved, but also boasts warmer earthier tones for those that love leather or hardwood.
current space forever. Negative space takes center stage in these design styles, instead focusing on the space around the clean silhouettes of the furniture and neutral tones in the room to bring it to life.

Winterizing Lilly

I decided to shop my closet and style my current Lilly pieces for the upcoming short but lovely cold weather we will be having. This Essie dress in the Tidal wave print is one of my favorites. I layered it with my most worn and favorite beige colored sweaters, a beanie, and my new neutral colored flats. I would also wear this outfit with nude pumps for a more dressier look. How do you style your Lilly for winter?

J. Crew Lodge Coat

We are currently experiencing cold weather here in Florida- for only a short period of time and then it'll be back in the '80s again. So I decided to wear my brand new J. Crew Lodge Coat it is currently on sale for 50 percent off. And today might be the last day- so I linked my exact coat for you to buy in various colors. But hurry sizes are selling out quickly. This coat is definitely worth the hype and it keeps you very warm because it is made of wool. I love the minimal yet chic look and I picked a neutral color to match anything. I love it so much that I'm considering buying another one!

Styling Hunter Rain Boots

Hello Everyone! So it has been rainy here in Georgia (if you follow me on Instagram you know that I'm up here on a work trip) I keep my rain boots in my car because back home in Florida a shower can pop up out of the blue and I'm normally always in sandals. So, I just swap out my sandals for my rain boots.  Well, apparently it rains a lot here in Georgia too. So I'm glad that I brought them with me. I also picked up this pullover on sale at a Lilly signature store here in Georgia on my last trip; it has been quite chilly too. I loooove the thumb holes because it keeps my hands warm. And the print is so fun too; I love the giraffe in this print. I will link my exact Hunter boots here for you.  Hunter brought back the purple color in two shades that what I wanted originally but they were sold out. Now the decision is which shade of purple do I want to buy to go with all of my new purple Lilly clothes!

My Favorite Healthy Snacks while Traveling

Hi Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll be traveling again for work this weekend and I'm packing my favorite foods. Some I have been eating for a while; some I just discovered and wanted to share with you. First off, I drink a lot of water, so that was a must. And I love Angie's Boom Chicka Pop popcorn they have a variety of flavors including some holiday flavors that are delicious. This one is one of my favorite flavors. This beet orange juice is also delicious made with Florida oranges which made me an instant fan. I love the regular orange juice as well as the strawberry lemonade. Delish!

I also tried out a new breakfast item. This strawberry overnight oats are my new favorite for on the go travel days and it tastes yummy too. When I'm home I normally eat a nice bowl of greek yogurt for protein, granola, honey, and fruit. This breakfast item actually has greek yogurt so it was perfect. I have to have a lot of protein in the morning. Also, some of my favorite snacks are nuts. They are a good source of protein.

All of the non-perishable snacks I put in my new Lilly Palm Beach zip-up tote so that everything is nice and safe. I love this print. I picked it up last week and the Lilly team said that it's not even on the website yet, so its very possible I'm the only person with this bag. LOL. They have it in a different print. The print name is "Postcards from Positano." I'll link the one on the website here for you to check out. I love the zipper because I can secure my items and they won't fall out. Last but not least my favorite fall drink at the moment is apple cider latte. Its the perfect on the road drink. It gives me all of the Happy Vibes.

The Ninth Commandment

Good Morning Everyone! I haven't written a devotional in a long time and I really wanted to write this one today. It's about the Ninth Commandment from God. We all have heard of the Ten Commandments, well this devotional is about the Ninth one. Exodus 20:16 KJV Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Which basically means - Don't bring false accusations against people or lie about people. Even God doesn't like when you lie about people; that He added it in the Ten Commandments. There are examples in the Bible of false accusations against people- like for example; Genesis 39 talks about Joseph a man very good man falsely accused of trying to rape the Government Officials wife and she tried to create (false) evidence by ripping his jacket. And Joseph had to pay for that until God made things right. Another example is King Ahab was wanting to buy someone's Vineyard but the person didn't want to sell his families property. So King Ahab's wife hired FALSE accusers to say that the man did and said horrible things, just so that they could put him to death and take his Vineyard. There are more, but these stood out to me. As you can see, creating false narratives about people is not wrong but it hurts people. We should never lie about people just because we don't like them, or don't like the way they look, or because we disagree with their ideology, or for any reason at all.  Remember honesty is the best policy. And we all should want to please God and obey His Commandments. And be kind to people because that's all that matters. Have a great day Friends and feel free to leave a comment, I love hearing from you all.
