Fall Decorating

Fall is my absolute favorite season and I look forward to it every year, especially decorating for it. So since this is the first fall in my house; it's extra exciting to decorate. I wanted touches of my modern coastal style mixed with the fall season. So you will see shells mixed in.
I kept the color scheme of my house white, gray with touches of green and copper. I love white pumpkins aka ghost pumpkins. I added a pumpkin garland for a fun touch. Once the pumpkin patch opens I'll fill the fireplace with lots of pumpkins for a dramatic look.

These super-soft velvet pillows add so much color and I love the gold lettering.
I love this little light-up house with a chimney. It is currently less than $5 on sale. I plan on using it for my winter decorating too.

24 Hour Packing Tips

Occasionally, I have overnight trips and only need a small bag for my travels. I put together a couple tips for traveling/packing for short trips and how I pack. I absolutely LOOOOVVVEE the Lilly Pulitzer Palm Beach tote for overnight/23 hour trips. It zips up and holds just the right amount of stuff. I recently discovered the KonMari method and how to utilize space when packing. So, I used one of the methods for underwear and smaller items.
My Tip number one: Always bring extra underwear; even if you're only staying for one night. Because you never know! And its better to be safe than sorry.
The smaller bag fits underwear and a smaller bag with skincare etc. It fits soooo much!

My Tip number two: Pack an extra outfit according to dinner plans.

Here I have two options. This first one is a super cozy, pink velvet jacket and a neutral comfortable bottom. This outfit is geared towards an "after work I'm going to grab chick-fil-a, head to the hotel and put on my cute strawberry socks, to finish sending emails or read my latest book outfit."

The second outfit is fun yet chic maxi dress with some gold shoes these are currently $7 dollars by the way. It's an" I worked hard today and a nice dinner is  appropriate tonight."
Bonus Tip: Make time for an iced vanilla coffee!

Chambray Dress Transitioning into Fall

I love a classic yet chic dress that can be styled throughout the seasons. Insert the perfect chambray dress. As we approach the end summer this dark chambray dress can be worn into the fall months. I paired mine with my Lilly McKim gold wedges but can be worn with boots or booties once the weather gets cooler and a cute scarf.

My Favorite Summer Reads

I have been doing a lot of reading this summer and have been loving it immensely! Here are a few of my personal favorites that you might find interesting to read.

I have read and listened to quite a few books/audiobooks from Mildred Taylor. All of her books were written during a time of division in America (Specifically Segregation.) A time when there was very little unity between the races. I love American history especially dealing with Civil Rights. It makes me appreciate how far the country has come and it makes me appreciate that in Christ there is no one superior or inferior because of his/her skin color.

I have also been loving Lois Lowry book Number the Stars. It also speaks of a very dark time in Europe when the Jews were being unjustifiably persecuted. My heart goes out to the Jewish people for all that they went through and I also admire how they can pick up the broken pieces and become a nation in 1944 and not let their bad circumstances and persecution hold them back from being successful.

Unplanned by Abby Johnson also another favorite read. They recently made a movie about a former Planned Parenthood worker who reformed and is now Pro-Life. This whole book is near and dear to my heart. If you know me personally you know why. Highly recommend this book its extremely heart touching and makes us realize that all lives are valuable no matter how small.

The book I'm currently reading is called the Madman of Piney Woods. I'll keep you posted on that one.

The book "29" was hilarious. I bought it last year around my birthday and read through it pretty quick. It makes me want to live every day to the fullest as I'm growing older instead of wanting to go back to a specific age. For me, it was 21. But that's a different subject for a different day.

Here are a couple audiobook recommendations:

Karen Kingsbury A moment of weakness
The Residence: Inside the Private World of the Whitehouse

Happy Reading Friends!

Little White Dress

I love an all-white look for summer. Styling this pretty little white dress for a summertime brunch or a day out and about. Paired this cute lace hem dress with my favorite heeled sandals (my Mom gave them to me), white Lilly Cardigan with gold details and my ark bag. Perfect summery look!
