Fall decor

Hi Friends! I know, I know, its still summer. Buuuuuut, fall is my favorite season and my favorite season to decor for. So here's a little bit of fall decor inspiration- just a little. And I'm so tempted to pull out my fall decor, but I'm trying not to be that person. Lol😆

These pumpkins are so cute, I love a neutral pumpkin and I love green ones too. It goes with so many fall decor styles, candles always makes everything cozy and this pumpkin candle snuffer is adorable and so perfect for the coming season. This pillow is so cute and is a checklist of all of the essentials for fall. Fall is my favorite pillow. And this beautiful throw blanket is definitely on my radar. It comes in multiple colors and is under $100.

Happy weekend.

At home office

Hi Friends! So I wanted to share with you a little home office inspiration. Now disclaimer* My office is far from perfect and is always so messy between my day job and filled with boxes from my hobby of blogging. However, I'm really loving the bright and airiness it gives off, unlike before! Now, There used to be a hideous indoor/outdoor carpet in here and it was AWFUL! My flooring guy that I've used in all of my flooring projects throughout the years, ripped it out and discovered some old flooring underneath. Below the first three photos are the before photos- brace yourselves!

Most of the items in my office are either from HomeGoods, thrift stores, or online. I get questions about this beautiful framed coastal art piece, I'll link similar ones here, here, here, and here.
One of my favorite elements in my office is my seagrass like wallpaper. I have the natural color, but it also comes in a pretty blue. Its a peel and stick option and is under $50 a roll.

Another favorite is my Vintage style rug from India. I love the Turquoise, cream, and fringe color and details. Its a little bit coastal in the colors and boho with the print and tassels. Definitely my vibe!
My desk is also the perfect size for this space- it is a good size but not too big. It's just how I like it. I purchased it here and its under $200. My curtains are a natural linen and the curtain rod hardware is linked here. I love this curtain hardware and have it throughout my home. The quality is great and sturdy and it comes in other finishes.
The walls used to be a very bright lemony yellow. But I tones it down with the seagrass wallpaper and the color White Duck from SW.

We removed the large cabinet that was taking up so much space and replaced it with my desk which fits so much better. Once we removed the carpet and this large cabinet; the whole space looked five times larger!

Like I said before, I'm loving this space so much and love working from here whenever I work from home. It sparks joy!

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading; I'd love to hear from you.

Hugs,

My Favorite White Bedding

Hi Friends! My master bedroom is FAR from complete; as you may see I have nothing on the walls and barely anything else. But that is totally fine; younger me (6 months ago) would be worrying that every single room in my house is not complete. But older me (6 months later) is just enjoying my home as it is and also enjoying the renovation, decorating process, and pacing myself.

So with that being said, I recently bought my favorite bedding for my room from one of my favorite home brands. Pottery Barn! I bought their PB Essentials bedding, which is just a basic design. But is totally my favorite. The prices are good too and you're getting quality bedding. BTW- this post is not sponsored, although that'd be great! I just love this brand and my duvet is so perfect to me. I also, have this duvet in my guest room and I even had it at my old house. I also bought some super soft Tencel pillow cases from West Elm. Trust me, these pillowcases are like a cloud! I highly recommend them. I layered my upholstered platform bed with these beautiful white Euro pillow that have a nice texture. They are so beyond perfect!

The bougainvillea was a fun little find at TJMaxx, it was tucked away in a corner and I just had to have it. Its a pretty fuchsia color with slight purple tint. I'm usually not a fan of faux flowers, but these have a realistic look and are so pretty. I found a similar set here and here in case you are interested.

Now here's a tip for your duvet cover. I have a queen size bed; but for a fluffier duvet, (this one is perfect for light warmth) I bought a king size duvet. Also, buying a good quality duvet also helps with the fluffiness. I'll definitely be adding more pillows, because ya know! Stay tuned for more decor/design projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thrift & Antique Store Treasures

Hi Friends! So you all may know that I absolutely love a good home decor/Furniture find. I love it even more when they are a great price and a true treasure and unique.
I don't like to spend a lot on home decor because I like to switch things up but I also like quality pieces. You can find some great pieces at Thrift/Antique Shops for great prices too. Since I'm always on the road for work, Sometimes on my way home I'll stop by random places and sometimes I find true gems.
Like this photo below, I was on my way home and swerved into the parking lot when eyed a beautiful chair that now lives in my unfinished Master bedroom-lol😆

This beautiful old Egyptian door piece was a great find at an antique shop that was closing; I bought it for maybe $35 or less. I threw it in my backseat and it was hanging slightly out of the window; but I got home and to this day its one of my favorite pieces.

I love baskets, especially the pattern ones. I found this one at a thrift shop for $2, normally these are quite expensive.

Here's that chair that I was talking about. Needs a cushion and maybe an accent pillow; but I love it on its own.
This peacock rattan magazine holder was a yard sale find for $5- it currently holds my 2 year old nephews books.

In the picture I mention the lamp, however the large fan in the corner was a thrift store/consignment store find for $10. It gives a great Bali vibe.

This chair was a great price only $5! It was in amazing condition.
I also found a $10 rattan full size headboard at a salvage yard.

This goes to show that great pieces can be found everywhere, if you do a little searching and look in the unexpected places.
I'll be sure to share more of my finds with you along the way.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs from Florida💜

Home office & Kitchen flooring Renovation Part 1

Happiest of Mondays to you Friends! Thank you all for the sweet messages about my feature in Southern Living Magazine, I'm beyond grateful and humbled that they even reached out to me last year for this feature. I've been keeping it a secret for a long time and I'm so happy to finally share the news. As soon as I get my copy, I'll try to write a blogpost about it.

But I've been wanting to share some before and after pictures of the flooring in my kitchen and home office. And my oh my, what a difference changing the flooring, removing a large cabinet for more space and repainting the walls and trim can make. I'm still not done with both of these specs but walking into both of these rooms spark so much joy now with the renovating that I've gotten done so far.

Pictured below is the new flooring.

Old flooring underneath the carpet.

So first things first, there was this horrible dark green textured carpet in both room. Yes! Carpet in the kitchen- WHAT ON EARTH WERE THE PREVIOUS OWNERS THINKING!!!???? Carpet in the kitchen is equally as disgusting as carpet in the bathroom! I was curious to know what was underneath because I did find the original hardwoods underneath some carpet in the hallway and Master bedroom.
But needless to say, No hardwood, just this very old broken tile from I don't know when. This horrid looking tile also went into my laundry area. My Flooring guy is amazing and I love how my floors turned out.

We also removed this big cabinet and there is so much more space.

Lets talk about this paint color- The color shown is a canary yellow. Yellow is a pretty color, but I love a more neutral palette so that I can switch things up and I love the more calm coastal tones.

Before Reno
Bye Bye green carpet and yellow walls.

Loving the new color- White Duck Sherwin Williams.
This is the same corner above, just transformed below.

I'll try to share Part 2 soon with you! But I hope that you enjoy Part 1.

Porch Days

Hello! As we spend a lot more time outside and on our porches- I thought it is time to show a little front porch decor. I have two porches a front and back, stay tuned for the back porch design. But I sit on the porch almost every day and some times for hours. So, I thought I'd make the front porch a little extension of the inside of my house. The only thing about sitting outside, at least here in Florida are the Mosquitoes! There are actually two ponds nearby so they swarm over and like to bite me lol😅.
But thanks to a small Florida business that specializes in interior design and hospitality; I was able to not only save myself from being eaten alive but support a small business- Shop Cape house. You can check them out here.

A lot of the items on my porch are sold out or from HomeGoods. But I'll link similar items just in case you'd like to recreate a similar look.
Chairs- Similar/ Rug- Similar here and here I love this Navy patterned planter.

Spring Mantle Decorating

Hi Friends, thanks for stopping by my little creative corner of the blog world! I thought since I'm home a lot more these days that it'd be great to do a little fireplace mantle refresh. Spring is probably my second favorite month; mostly because of all the bright and fresh colors. I decided to do a boho-tropical decor vibe with the palm fronds, colorful Anthropologie inspired vase and succulent plants. By just adding these few elements and some floral related books, it added instant life to the mantle. I hope that you are inspired by the update!

Reading Nook Decor Update

Hi Friends! Since I've been home during the afternoon time and all of my favorite stores are closed. I've decided to freshen up my reading nook with a few plants, pillows, and art from other rooms; that I actually planned on getting rid of but found it looked great in the reading nook.

I'll link as much as I can for you, just in case you'd like some of these pieces for your home. The white chair was actually my mom's and it was red. She always told me that I could have it once I bought a house. So this chair is my most favorite piece and I love that it was my mom's and I just repurposed it. The antelope head is from HomeGoods and almost all of the art is from a local or Florida Artist or even a historical clipping from a magazine of my hometown. The fiddle leaf fig tree is from a plant nursery and is also one of my favorites.

Copper stool/ Bamboo Tray table/ Black lantern/ Reading Lamp/ Moroccan pillow/ Velvet pillow/

Here is the website to one of my favorite Florida Artists. I have a few of her paintings in my house and plan to add more.

I hope that you've enjoyed this post and all of my little updates to the reading nook.

Fireplace Mantle Decorating

Hi Friends! Thanks for stopping by and reading my little blog. I decided to do a little fireplace mantle decorating by adding palm fronds and glass vases for a chic look. Also picked up a new seat cushion for the side chair and added copper hand painted plate of a tropical bird. I found it at a local antique store for $15. It’s a perfect addition; plus I love copper.  I have small copper cookware collection too.
I have a variety of palm trees on and around my property so they were free. Lol! I’m hoping to get a few pieces of furniture this week to get most of the living room complete. Thanks so much for stopping by and be on the lookout for more home decor blogpost.

At Home with Vellabox

Hi Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by. Those who know me really well know that I love good smelling candles; especially when they are non-GMO and 100% natural! With that being said I am so happy to be working with Vellabox again. I worked with them last year- I'll link that post here. Vellabox is a candle subscription company that carries a variety of natural and vegan candles that smell oh so good! They also carry natural skin care products filled with great ingredients like Shea Butter which is my personal favorite I use it almost every day.

This lemon hand cream from J.R. Watkins smelled so good and is so moisturizing. I wash my hands a lot and my hands often are quite dry. So this was the perfect hand cream. I liked it so much I gave my mom some too!

I also love that the Vellabox subscription comes in a bright yellow box and the candles are in a cute printed bag. I'm currently burning Citrus Grove from Thistle and Finn, a perfect blend of black tea,  tangerine and orange blossom. Perfect for my Florida roots. Be sure to use the code "THISTLE" at vellabox.com checkout to get 20% off any Thistle and Finn candles. They make great gifts and they are 100% natural.
Thank you so much for reading.
And Thank you so much Vellabox for sponsoring this post.

Fragrant Reading nook with Vellabox

I don't know about you, but all of this rain is making me want to stay inside, turn on a fragrant candle and read a book. It makes me feel so cozy when a candle is burning and I can hear the rain outside. I recently spruced up my little reading nook with some new books and added a delicious smelling candle from Vellabox. If you've never heard of Vellabox before its a monthly candle subscription company with a price as low as $10 a month. I'm currently burning the Cactus blossom candle and it smells so good.  It has a soft floral fragrance. The candles are 100% soy wax and hand-poured with essential oil infused fragrances; phthalate-free, lead-free, petroleum-free, as well as vegan. Vellabox also offers other wonderful items such as Natural Lip Ice sunscreen. It left my lips very moisturizing and the sunscreen is perfect since I live in Florida, sunscreen is very important. I also love the box and pretty cactus bag the candles come in. Such a pretty touch. I have a little giveaway planned with one of these candles from Vellabox stayed tuned to find out. I'll post details on my Instagram soon. (petalprep)
